Troubles putting on muscle mass? Troubles putting on muscle mass?
Save Tip

I have been struggling for a while to put on lean body weight and finally found something that helped! I recently started taking BCAA's and have put on 5 pounds in 2 weeks. I researched into this supplement quite a bit and this was what was said about them:
Recommended use:0.25-0.44g per Kg (or 0.2g per Lb) of body weight half before workout, half after, or if workout is long and very intense 1/3 before, 1/3 mid workout, and 1/3 post
-it helps regulate protein synthesis
-if taken during training, it raises both growth hormone and insulin levels (making your body anabolic)
-the body uses BCAA's as an energy source
-claims to prevent decrease in post workout testosterone levels and actually raise them after your workout
-reduces protein degredation during workout
-I also have tried taking them at halftime in football games and have found they keep my head clear and I stay more aware

This is a summary of the information I have found on BCAA's to help save some time for those looking into them. I have been really impressed with the benefits and recommend them to anyone struggling to put on some extra muscle!

James42 Im taking Poliquin Performance "BCAA Excellence" their from a trainer affiliated with my coach. They seem to be doing the trick for me. Yourself? and do you know the amounts of leucine, isoleucine and valine in each serving. I always hear about these "optimal" ratios in each brand, yet every brand claims this and every brand seems to have a different ratio. I wonder if it actually has an impact?
