Good tip! It's so true, people sometimes have a hard time finding a happy medium and tend to get carried away. If more people thought like you everyone would look a lot better!

Rusty, you are right. I can tell by your picture on the beach that your BF is really low. I really want to get lean because right now my face and especially jaw line look too puffy.

Yavor...great tips as always buddy! As far as body fat goes...anything around 6-10% is amazing in my opinion. Just to keep things interesting it is fun to shoot for 5% for the start of a summer, or for a big trip. Make sure you bring a camera! I've been down to 5% on a few occasions and never catch it on film. You will be amazed at how sharp your face and jawline looks at that percentage. Anyway...keep the great tips coming!

Aaron, thanks for the feedback!
What Helder meant was that he used to do heavy deads and pulls and then found it hard to lose some of the bulk on his hips that came from doing the heavy exercises.
I'm not against heavy compound lifts, for the record, I will write about it in another post.

I believe its good to watch the BF when bulking. Harder to shed that fat when the time comes that one wants to cut. I don't think I'm losing size from doing deads and squats though LOL

Thanks Yavor. 10.1% is nothing to sneeze at and 5-6% is an amazingly hardcore goal. go for it! i'll just constantly reassas my goals as my body improves. it's good that we tend not to get complacent but continually set new goals.

I think it is a genetic thing, but you can always improve what you have. For example you have small waist and hips which is a good thing. Just adding upper body mass would make your body even more impressive.
On the other hand I have both wider hips and wider shoulders. If I don't stay slim, my waist looks bad. On the plus side, people always perceive me as having wide shoulders, even if there is not muscle muscle there. I have recently started training my shoulders regularly, so will see how far I can get. When I started off, I trained the hell of my lats and trained to lose the BF around my waist to achieve a V taper.
Also, people (unless they are fitness pros lol) will not perceive you the way you perceive yourself and your limitations :)

Do you think proportions are more genetic or can people have a decent influence on them?

Jason, good job getting below 10% BF. I have gotten to 10.1% myself but think that I'd look best at 5-6%.

Really good post Yavor. I'm a big believer in 'proportions' and low body fat being much more important than overall bulk. I need to change my 'profile picture' (as the current is 3 years old - before I transformed my body and it doesn't really do my justice on a fitness site!)
Basically, I've gone from 198 poounds @ 17-18% bf to 177.7 pounds @ 9.7% bf since Oct07 till now. So I've put no muscle on in that time (probably lost a little despite all efforts to just loss fat) but my muscle definition (and strength due to weight training) has imporved dramatically. I'm 6'2" but only a slight to medium frame so I can go to 175 comfortably and get to hopefully around 8.5% bf or so.
I'll then reassess and maybe put on a small amount of lean muscle (i mean just around 5 pounds or so.
