Why It is Stupid to Lose Weight by Starving Yourself
Save Tip
In order to lose weight you have to have a caloric deficit. Calories in must be exceeded by calories out. The quickest way to do it is just to eat less. While this strategy will work for a while, it has its drawbacks.
First the body gets in a starvation mode once you drop calories for a prolonged period. Thus it starts burning less energy for the same activities and weight loss thus platoes.
Also, if no weight training is added to the daily activities, the weight loss will be partly from the decrease of the muscle/organ/tissue mass. This is a bad thing as it decreases the number of calories the body burns.
A better approach is to decrease calories a bit but also add more activities as well as some resistance training. Bodyweight exercises are great for this because while you are dropping weight, they start being easier for you.

It is really strange for me that the US, a place where people can achieve anything, has so many people neglecting and misusing their bodies.

Great tip! I've found that most people don't know about the bodies starvation mode, but the word is getting out and its great! Maybe the US will finally drop off as the fattest country.

Hi Yavor,
Yeah those dips, chin ups and pull ups are sooo much easier for me now that I weigh 173 pounds instead of 198 pounds! Plus I've gotten stronger outright from including traditonal strength resistance training. It's a really nice feeling getting way stronger while lossing weight at the same time!
