What drink is right for you
Save Tip
Water -> drink water during regular exercise such as resistance training, aerobics, yoga, pilates adn spinning or while in practice for sports like volleyball, soccer and football.
Why -> Drinking water slightly chilled or at room temperature helps return your body to normal temperature during an activity. Save the colder temperatures for after your activity, especially if the body is overheated. water also reduces cramps throught your body
Tip->Be Careful not to drink ice cold water too quikly during an activity. Ice cold water can shock the body and constrict blood vessels, changing the blood and oxygen supply to preforming muscles. Popular water and mineral waters are garorade and nestle.
Sports Drinks -> Grab a sports drink during any high intensity, adrenaline driven endurance sport such as boxing or any activity of the same type that lasts beyond one hour.
Why-> Not only do sports drinks help to cool your body down as you perform, they are also effective in helping to replenish lost potassium and electrolytes this extends the time you can preform at a high level with less fatigue and muscle cramping.
Tip-> try using sugarless, low sugar and low calorie sports drinks whenever possible. Popular brands include gatorade and powerade.
Energy drinks-> Go for an energy drink when your activity requires a high level of energy and high intesity output. For example, when running, mountain biking, skiing or competing in mixed martial arts.
Why -> While Caffine is usally the main ingredient, when used properly, energy drinks can help restore mental alertness and energy.
Tip-> Do not replace your morning cofee with an energy drink, or mix your energy with alcohol shots. If you have high blood pressure, consult with your docter befor using an energy drink. Do not drink an energy drink if you are sleep deprived. The intial energy boost you do feel will eventually wear off , causing extreme fatigue and possible headaches. Popular brands include: Rockstar, Monster, Guru, Red Bull, Full throttle and Sobe.
Next time you go out choose the drink that is right for you!
