Burning Calories - the simple facts Burning Calories - the simple facts
Save Tip

To lose one pound, you must burn about 3,500. That means you can eat 100 fewer Calories a day for 35 days, or 500 fewer calories for seven days, or walk an hour a day for 22 days, or do a combination of the two by eating less and moving more. Remember, even if you're exercising more than usual, the Calories-in, Calories-out rule still applies: If you take in more than you burn, you'll gain weight.

runningbear True It's called common sense, but it isn't all that common...

Rolo It is common sense, but many people lack that. I have many clients that think just because they do a great workout, that they can eat whatever they want. This tip is easy as A-B-C 1-2-3, yet so many people just don't listen.

runningbear Thanks, oz. It's simple common sense, but I find it helps to have the basic facts to help keep me in check.

OzzieOcean So many people feel that if they jog for 25 minutes on a certain day they can eat whatever they want. That calorie in/out rule is the golden rule to weight loss. I find the best way to feel great is to eat right and exercise often... then on a day when you do pig out, you really have little to feel guilty about. (So long as it is a rare event!).
Very good tip!
