I've been running a long time and thought I was pretty fit until I went back to lap swimming last spring and almost died my first couple of times back in the pool. I'd forgotten how important breathing was and how different it is to breathe for swimming - from your diaphragm - and you can't fake your way through it! Old people were lapping me. It was a very humbling and eye-opening lesson.
