Remember the importance of good sleep
Save Tip
People are often ignorant to the fact that healthy sleep habits can greatly increase your fitness performance. The average person needs about 8 hours of sleep a night, which many active people fall short of. Meanwhile, having consistent sleep patterns allows your body to function best during the time it's awake. So it is very important to get adequate amount of sleep along with a consistent sleep pattern.

I'm right there with you. I think I get on average 4 - 5 hours of sleep at night. It seems impossible to get 8 hours of sleep. I think it's important, and I'd like to get 8 hours of sleep, but there's just not enough hours in the day. I think lots of people have this problem.

I wish I could get 8 hours of sleep a night. I am lucky to get 6 these days. I try to supplement that with a nap around lunch time though.

Interesting.. Perhaps this tip might be a myth. Or maybe the psychological tiredness could just cause a lack of performance. Good information though. Looks like this needs to be looked into further. For now, sleep deprived people should try to get past their mental sleepiness and realize it actually won't effect their physical capabilities.

The NSCA just conducted a study on sleep deprivation, and the study showed that the lack of sleep had no affect of physical strength but that it did affect the athlete psychologically.

Good tip. Forf some reason i seem to function at my peak with just 6-7 hours sleep 80%-90% of the time with the occasion night of 8 hours. But, the trick is still getting quality sleep.
