Save Tip

Always remember to stretch before, during, and after each workout. This allows your muscles to grow and become more flexible. Another important point is that stretching can prevent injury.

CovaElite I just went to the gym today and I stretch my legs and every part of my body throughout the entire workout to achieve my maxes. There is no way I could leg press 900lbsX5 without stretching. I didn't stretch when I first started lifting...I followed HIT and eventually i had to stop doing certain workouts because I screwed my shoulders up. You have to warm up your muscles and train them to withstand heavy weights or you injure yourself...How do u know Jay Cutler doesn’t stretch?
I stretch and then do warm-up lifting for about 10-15 minutes before I destroy myself in the gym.
It is even more important to stretch if you are power lifting because of the sudden jerking motions.
It’s kind of like taking a muscle car with a big block engine, not letting it warm-up, and flooring it...eventually the engine is going to start having problems.

Hulbs I'm with Captcrunch on this one. I've read research that indicates stretching before strength training is bad and will decrease your max lift.
