Sodium and Your Diet Sodium and Your Diet
Save Tip

Who doesn't like the taste of salt? As a way of lowering your blood pressure, keeping salt in your meal plan in check is another important way to support your overall health. Read labels, watch out for prepared foods that contain large amounts of salt like soups, snacks, and even some sodas. If you are craving salt, try enhancing your food flavor with fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice or some NO sodium or low sodium seasoning.

runningbear I do a lot with lemon zest.Cumin is another very flavorful seasoning that can be used to spice up dishes. Processed foods have an appallingly high sodium content; it's always best to prepare food yourself so you can control what goes into it. Great tip!

OzzieOcean You get used to sodium free and low sodium foods quite quickly. This is a very valuable tip. I used tobe a salt fein, now I always choose salt free or at least less salt than the average!
